Receive a browser message error stating:
“A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to Run slowly. If it continues to run, yourcomputer may become unresponsive.
Do you want to abort the script?”
The long running JavaScript notification is a browser security feature and could show up with any of the more complex dashboards.
The notification exists to look for JavaScripts that are lurking as key loggers and other threats.
This is a feature of the browser software and not directly of the application.
WORKAROUND:
1st: You want to answer "No" to aborting the script (if you answer "Yes" then sign out of the console and close the browser).
2nd: A description of this problem can be found in the Microsoft KB article here
These JavaScript script errors exist for both FireFox and Internet Explorer.
IE: You can set the “MaxScriptStatements” registry key to 0 as follows:
1. Using a Registry Editor such as Regedt32.exe, open this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\Styles
Note If the Styles key is not present, create a new key that is called Styles.
2. Create a new DWORD value called "MaxScriptStatements" under this key and set the value to 50,000,000 script statements.
• Remember that 5 million script statements are the default in IE4 – 7. The max is 99,999,999.
The field only accepts up to 8 digits character sets. Setting the value to zero (0) permits an infinite number of statements.
FIREFOX 3.x: In Firefox this is a simple timeout issue:
Open a new tab and type 'about:config' without the quotes. Then start typing max_ in the filter box and you will find the browser.max_script_run_time setting, which defaults to 10 seconds.
You can change this to 30 and that will eliminate most of the warnings. If things are really taking more than 30 seconds there is a problem.
