Does the SQL Server Reporting Server agent have to be co-located with a database instance? -
Resolution
To monitor SSRS, Foglight needs to be able to connect to the report database that is installed when a reporting service (RS) is installed. To do that, the database engine where this database is located needs to be monitored.The SSRS service can reside on a different server than the one where the database engine resides. This is why Foglight asks for the reporting service host name during install time.
In the example below,- The Reporting Services Database includes the instance where the database is installed. When this instance has been monitored by a SQL Server agent, the database name should be available as a pulldown option once Foglight detects a ReportServer database on the monitored instance.
- The Reporting Services Host is the hostname for where the SSRS server is installed. This service is installed at the OS level so an instance name is not required in this field.
- The checkbox will enable or disable the ability for the installer to automatically generate a display name in Global View
- The login credentials would be OS level Windows credentials to access the Reporting Service on the RS Host.
