I upgraded my storage to 4.0 and it is no longer working.
This can happen in a couple of circumstances.
1) Upgrading from versions of Foglight Storage Manager (FSM) from a version 3.2 or lower to 4.0 or 4.0.1.
2) Upgrading from Foglight for Virtualization Enterprise (FVE) from a version prior to 8.0 and going to 8.1 or 8.2. This upgrade includes the 4.0/4.0.1 storage cartridges embedded in the install.
These upgrades can leave an older cartridge called "StorageAgentMaster" enabled when it should not be. This cartridge cannot be simply disabled as doing so incorrectly removed data definitions that are still need.
This is a known defect in Foglight for Virtualization Enterprise referenced by Quest Tracking ID vfgls-2737.
The solution is to install a cartridge called "StorageUpgradeCleanup". This cartridge will correctly remove the "StorageAgentMaster" cartridge and ensure that the rest of the installation still performs properly.
This cleanup cartridge should be installed on all FSM 4.0 or FVE 8.0 – 8.2 installations. It has no other effect other than to remove the "StorageAgentMaster" cartridge, if it exists.
Defect request vfgls-2737 has been submitted to Development for a fix in a future release. Please check the release notes of latest software to determine which bug fixes have been included in this release.
