When using a AWS host as the FMS how can the host name be kept the same so that the license still works after stopping and starting the Amazon EC2 instances? -
Description
In AWS (Amazon Web Services), when an instance is launched, it is assigned a host name that is a form of the private, internal IPv4 address, something like: ip-12-34-56-78.us-west-2.compute.internal. Unless an Elastic IP address is used the IP and hos tname (public IPv4 address,public DNS name, system host name) change each time the Amazon EC2 instance is stopped and started.
The Foglight FMS license is associated with the FMS host name. How can the host name be kept the same so that the license still works after stopping and starting the Amazon EC2 instances? -
Resolution
Resolution1: Use an Elastic IP address so that the DNS name with the assigned Elastic IP won't change.
Resolution 2: Use an Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) and private DNS.
Resolution 3: Configure your own host name. Development was not sure of this option but thinks is should work.The following articles may be helpful:
