The following guidelines should be followed when configuring HA FglAMs:
Do not add FglAMs that already have agents and/or agent packages deployed to a HA FglAM cluster.
Hosts should not be added to or removed from the Host Config list under the FglAM properties.
Do not start testing the FglAMs in a HA cluster until the packages on the FglAMs are synced up. The packages listed for each FglAM can be determined from the JMX console (http://FMSaddress:8080/jmx-console) by clicking the FglAM:name=HAManager link and invoking the diagnosticSnapshotAsString() method, and then checking the package names in the mPackageName entry under the DeploymentInfo for the FglAM host.
It is best to execute the following steps when setting up an FglAM HA configuration:
- Set up the HA cluster using FglAMs that don't have any packages/agents deployed.
- Restart the FglAMs.
- Check which FglAM is the primary from the JMX console (http://FMSaddress:8080/jmx-console) by clicking the FglAM:name=HAManager link and invoking the diagnosticSnapshotAsString() method.
- Deploy the desired packages and agents to the FglAM that is primary.
- Check the JMX console to make sure that the packages are synced.
- Stop the primary to test failing over.
