Foglight Storage Manager to monitor my Brocade switches but we do not know how to configure Brocade Network Analyzer (BNA) to talk to Foglight for Storage Management.
Please download and install the BNA Client from Brocade. The information here is a guide to help with the installation, but should not be used in place of Brocades documentation. Any information from Brocade will supersede this article.
1) Download the Brocade BNA.
BNA versions 11.1 through 12.1 have been tested.
2) Install the BNA Client on a DIFFERENT server from vFoglight FglAM. The FglAM agent cannot collect from the BNA Client if it is on the same server.
The BNA client must be installed on a different server from FglAM. Installing the BNA Client with all defaults (except SMIS ONLY installation) will work for Foglight Storage Manager, but install the SMI agent according to your environment and business needs.
On the server with the BNA Client installed either turn off the windows firewall, or open the necessary ports to talk to the Brocade SMI agent. As of the writing of this document ports 5988/TCP and 5989/TCP were the only ports that needed to be opened for incoming traffic.
3) Configure the BNA Client
When the client is installed and run for the first time it needs to be set to run in SMIS only mode. All other modes will require licensing and there is an associated cost.
When the client is installed, configure the SMIS portion and add your fabrics.
NOTE:
BNA is VERY sensitive to the version of JAVA that is installed on the server. If you can’t access the Fabric Discovery link, open a webpage to the local host on port 443.
This should get you into the SMIS config portion with a link to install JAVA. Install the Java here and try the config from this Webpage.
