My Database has grown large and I need a way of shrinking it.
The Prism DB in vFoglight Storage receives a great deal of information. Even though it only retains 30 days of information, the churn of information in the database causes that database to continue to grow beyond the sun of it retained data.
By running a script that re-indexes the database the Prism DB can be reduced by as much as half in some circumstances.
** NOTE **
This process will take vFoglight Storage off line for several hours. It will not collect any data during this time. They script is a DOS script and can be used in conjunction with Windows scheduler to run regularly during off hours.
SYNOPSIS: Utility performs indexing and vacuuming vFogStorage databases
SYNTAX: VfsDbMaint.exe [backup] [reindex] [help]
The application can also be used to backup the databases in vFoglight Storage by including the backup option. The backups do not have a timestamp in the name and will overwrite a prior backup made by this application. The Backups will be located in C:\vFogStorageBackUp (or where you set the backup folder during installation). The backup will always be done first if both switches are included.
