I tried to open the Foglight vStorage application (the logon screen is still there) and it would not start due to the error: “unable to create server connection”
This is caused by the User Interface (UI) not being able to connect with the server.
Resolution 1
If the server was just rebooted, please wait 5 minutes to allow the services to come up.
Resolution 2
Manually restart the services.
1) Open the services interface.
Start | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services
2) Restart the following 3 services. They need to be started in the following order:
vFoglight-Storage Database
vFoglight-Storage hdccs
vFoglight-Storage Server
Be sure the startup type is automatic.
Resolution 3
Verify is there is enough disk space available for the application and the databases. If the disk is full, the UI cannot open the database and will be unable to connect.
If none of these have worked, please collect the logs.
See Solution “Troubleshooting vFoglight Storage: Generating the support logs and information to submit to technical support for review.”
