The following Linux user accounts are available on the appliance setup menu when FxV is installed: root, quest, support, and setup.
The root account is not used to run any services and users cannot log in as root at all (not locally to the box, or remotely through SSH). Users cannot log in as the quest user either, as this account is only used to run FxV services.
The support account provides sufficient privileges to administer the hardware, but this account cannot read or write directories containing captured data. This is the only account that can be used by users connecting through SSH. The support account is primarily used to remotely access the setup shell (through su) or to transfer patch files to the appliance. The support account does not have read access to any directory where FxV stores sensitive customer data.
The setup user account is used to run the FxV setup menu facility. This text-mode application is the setup user’s shell, and the user is logged out when this shell is exited. The setup menu uses Yast to configure network cards and has menus to configure and start/stop FxV services. The setup account does not have read access to any directory where FxV stores sensitive customer data.
