The upgrade for FxM(Foglight Experience Monitor) release contains a bug that will clear the following configuration settings from your system:
Mail Server
SNMP Server
SNMP Community
Trace Route Protocol
Time Servers
Server Identification Tag
These settings are found on the Configure Appliance Network Settings page with the exception of the Server Identification Tag which is found on Configure Monitoring Servers Server Options. The effect of this bug includes the following:
Email notifications that were configured on alarms will no longer be sent.
SNMP traps that were configured on alarms will no longer be sent.
Traceroutes that were configured on alarms will no longer be initiated.
The appliances clock will no longer be synchronized with an external time server using Network Time Protocol (NTP). This should not have an immediate consequence since the appliance will use its internal clock instead. Over time however, this could cause a multiple-appliance configuration to lose data if the clocks on the appliances are not synchronized.
If your appliance was configured with a Server Identification Tag the system will stop collecting Server category metrics for each server in your environment. Note this only affects Server category metrics.
Since these settings were lost on upgrade, its not possible for us to issue a hotfix to resolve this issue. You will need to re-enter these settings in your Foglight Experience Monitor web console. If you do not remember what your settings were Quest Technical Support can obtain them from a support bundle.
From the FxM HTTP UI:
Generate a support bundle with Help -> Support Tools -> Support Bundle
Save the file locally
Contact Quest Technical Support at
www.supportlink.com
or
1(800) 306-9329
State in the case title that you need to recover setting from a FxM install.
If the support bundle is under 8 MB attach it to the support case, if its over 8 MB request a location to upload it.
