Can Foglight Experience Monitor (FxM) send out SNMP Traps as an action to a SNMP server?
FxM can send SNMP traps as an action when an FxM alarm is triggered. When an alarm is triggered with this action has been enabled, an SNMP trap (version 2c) is sent to the SNMP management console. The trap contains information about the alarm such as the measure value that triggered the alarm and the exact time it occurred.
To set up the FxM appliance to do this, you would first need to enter the IP address of your site's mail server in the 'SNMP Server' box. And in the 'Community' box enter the community identifier that the appliance will use to send SNMP traps. You'd do this in the web console UI under the ('Configure' | 'Appliance' | 'Network Settings') menu. Refer to the attached screenshot of this page--NetworkSettingsScreenshot.JPG
And then, when you are editing an Alarm definition, you can check off the 'Issue SNMP Trap' checkbox (see attached screenshot SNMP_Trap_Screenshot.JPG). This checkbox causes the appliance to transmit an SNMP trap to the SNMP server when the alarm is triggered.
