The French character, œ (Latin Small Ligature Oe, œ, U+0153) , is displayed as a 'box' in the Toad data window. I tried changing the font to Arial or Lucinda Unicode but it still does not display the character correctly.
This is the character map for WE8ISO8859P1. It does NOT contain U+0153

Reboot Toad for Oracle after changing the font settings correctly. In the Data Grid options, confirm correct font setting, rather than in Editor Options:
1. Select View | Toad Options menu option
2. Select Data Grid | Visual from left-side tree
3. Under Styles section, select an existing template from "Active Styles" dropdown or click "Edit Styles..." button and proceed with below steps
4. Ensure Legacy is selected under Styles list and click Edit button
See the attachment for video tutorial information on NLS paramenters to confirm NLS parameter and Toad for Oracle font settings.
