Toad does not reopen the editor window to the same layout as it was left on a previous session. Specifically, the panel sizing for the lower panel/data grid is not left at the same position. The panel size is adjusts, but after exiting Toad (properly, no specific action to save the desktop layout was done) and coming back to Toad, the size of this panel is changed back to default, forcing the user to resize again.
This was not a problem in Toad 10.6. The editor window remembers the sizing from when it was last closed and reopens to the same layout.
WORKAROUND:
The desktop can be reset to default or replace the existing saved "SQL" desktop with different settings.
1. Make personal adjustments and customizations to the desktop layout
2. Click the save desktop icon on the toolbar.
3. Either save as new desktop layout, or replace exiting default "SQL" desktop layout.
Note: At he moment, the editor window defaults to the "SQL" desktop. If the customized layout is saved as "SQL" to replace the Toad default settings, the editor window will currently default to these settings. If a new desktop layout is created, each time Toad is launched, the editor desktop layout would need to be manually switched to the newly saved layout.
STATUS:
Waiting for fix in a future version of Toad for Oracle.
