Introduction Getting started Migration User Interface Configuration Troubleshooting & Tips

The Manage Queue Dialog

The Metalogix Email Migrator that is set up as the Controller (Host), provides a single point of management control over the job queue.

To open the Manage Queue dialog:

1.Click the Manage Queue button from the Email Migrator ribbon.

DM0043

If the Manage Queue button appears disabled, your Metalogix Email Migrator is not connected to use a configured Agent Database. To configure an agent database, see Connecting to an Agent Database.

2.The Manage Queue dialog appears.

DM0062

The Manage Queue dialog presents a toolbar with the following options:

·Delete Job - allows you to remove queued or completed job from the Distributed Migration Job list. For more information, see Deleting a Job.

·Refresh - allows you to monitor the status of a job in the Distributed Migration Job list. For more information, see Refreshing a Job.

The Manage Queue dialog displays a list of migration Jobs, called the Distributed Migration Job list. The information presented in the various columns are as follows:

Column

Description

Job ID

The unique identifier of the job.

Job Name

The name of the job.

Created

The date and time the job was saved (and not when the job was queued).

Source URL

The source of the migration content.

Target URL

The target of the migration content.

Agent Name

The name of the Agent where the job is running. The value is blank when the job is queued.

Status

Recent state of the job. The status values could be one of the following values:

·Queued - the migration job is ready to start.

·Running - a migration is in progress.

·Failed - the job has encountered a fault condition.

·Done - the migration has completed.

You can select a job from the list by clicking anywhere on the row. A row selector icon and the highlighted row indicates the selected row.

Deleting a Job

1.From the Manage Queue dialog, select a job that should be deleted from the Distributed Migration Job list. The row selector icon and the highlighted row indicates the selected row.

NOTE:

Only jobs with a status of Queued or Done can be deleted. Deleting a job from the queue will not remove or delete any of the logging information that has already been sent to the main Job list for the Agent Database.

2.Click the Delete Job button. If the button is disabled, check that the selected job has a status that is either Queued or Done.

3.A warning dialog appears.

DM0063

4.Click Yes to proceed with the removal. The Job disappears from the Distributed Migration Job list.

Alternatively, click No to prevent the removal of the Job.

Refreshing a Job

1.From the Manage Queue dialog, select a job from the Distributed Migration Job list. The row selector icon and the highlighted row indicates the selected row.

2.Click the Refresh button. If the status of the job has changed, the Status value will indicate the new status of the job.

Submitting a Distributed Migration Job

Considerations before Submitting a Migrating Job

Make sure all dependencies exist on the agent machines. For example, if the mappings were changed, then the Agents must be updated with the new configuration files before performing a migration. For instructions about updating the configuration files, see Updating an Agent

Submitting a Migration Job

1.Open Metalogix Email Migrator on the Controller (Host), and verify that you are connected to the Agent Database.

2.Configure and save your migration job on the Controller.

3.From the Job list in the main application window, highlight the row to select the job.

4.From the Job List toolbar, click Run Jobs Remotely to submit the job for Distributed Migration. Alternatively, right-click the selected row to display the pop-up action menu. Select the Run selected job remotely option.

Limitations

·If an action in Email Migrator is not supported for generating/running the action over PowerShell, then that action is not supported to run remotely on an Agent machine. - Not all actions in Email Migrator are supported when using PowerShell. Since running a migration on a remote Agent relies on PowerShell, some actions are not supported to be run remotely. For example:

·Copy Archive Mailbox Group

User Interface

The Metalogix Email Migrator main User Interface (UI) is fairly straightforward consisting of the main toolbar, two explorer views and the Job list.

In this section we describe in detail:

Main Toolbar

At the top of the Email Migrator there is a Ribbon menu that allows access to four menu group settings. These menu group settings are: Connection, View, Settings, and Help. This section will breakdown how to use the Ribbon, as well as list the available options in each menu group.

Using the Ribbon

The Email Migrator menu ribbon can be Expanded or Minimized to fit user needs. By default this ribbon is Expanded, but it can be minimized by clicking the "Up" arrow to the top right-hand side of the tool bar menu (in line with the menu group headings). This will turn into a "down" arrow if the ribbon is minimized, and can be used to expand the ribbon again.

When the ribbon is expanded a set of options will become available depending on which tab is selected. For example, the Connect to Exchange option is only available when the Connection tab is selected. When the ribbon is minimized the options will only become visible when a tab is selected, otherwise only the tabs are listed.

The minimizing function is also accessible by right-clicking on an option within the ribbon itself. This opens a context (right-click) menu where the Minimize the Ribbon option can be selected. If there is no existing check-mark beside this option, then the ribbon is currently expanded, but if there is a check-mark by the option then the ribbon is currently minimized.

Context menu of ribbon options offers also Quick Access Toolbar feature. Click Add to Quick Access Toolbar in the context menu of any ribbon option (e.g. Connect to Mailbox, Show Job List etc.) and the selected option will be accessible in the Quick Access Toolbar. (See the screenshot below.) The toolbar is always visible.
