PageExitCount

This metric records the number of times that the page was the last page accessed by a user on the site. This can occur either because users are abandoning the site from the current page they are viewing or they have simply finished with the site and their session has timed out. This metric can be useful in determining which pages may be causing problems for users although it could also indicate pages that are naturally terminating pages for a site.

As users navigate through a site their progress is tracked and each page they have accessed is recorded. If the user leaves the site for an outside URL or their session expires this metric is incremented for the page.

PageNetworkLatency

This metric shows network latency times from the perspective of a web page.

Both this metric and the Command Network Latency metric are derived from algorithms that estimate the amount of time it takes to transmit information from the server to the client (or vice versa). These algorithms analyze the timing of low-level TCP commands and acknowledgments to produce an estimate for this metric. Network latency is dependent on the quality of the network connections between the user and the web servers. Every user session has a distinct network latency estimate. Whenever a page download is completed for a user, the estimate for that user session is essentially rolled-up into the metric calculation for each page.

Page Peak Count per Second

Count Metric

PagePeakCount

This metric provides an estimate of the peak number of page downloads per second that are encountered by the given application. This gives users the ability to evaluate the peak load that an application component experiences when evaluating SLAs. Some SLAs provide exemptions if concurrent activity exceeds a predetermined level. This metric provides a benchmark by which you can evaluate the peak levels of activity that an application component experiences.

The algorithm for this metric records the termination time of each page download as it completes. The termination time is used because that is the event that indicates the download was successfully completed. These times are then evaluated to determine the maximum number of page downloads that complete in any given second.

PageProcessingTime

Since a page typically consists of several components, a web browser opens several connections and download all of these components in parallel. These components may reside on a single server or be spread across several servers. Each component in the page requires a command to be sent to the server and processed by the application.

This metric shows the total time spent processing all commands that are sent as part of the web page download. The Command Processing Time for each component in the page is added together to calculate this metrics.

If multiple servers processed components in this page, then this time includes the processing from all of the servers involved.

Command Processing Time

For each component in the page, the Command Processing Time is calculated.

Page Processing Time for this page = Sum of command processing times for each page hit on the page

The calculations for this metric do take into account the case where multiple commands were sent in parallel and their processing times overlap. This is quite common in practice and is accounted for by the system, but is not apparent in the equation shown above.
