This category provides metrics from the perspective of a SOAP Application. A SOAP Application is defined as a subset of SOAP Operations that have names matching one or more regular expression patterns. It can represent a single function (for example, an account login method) or an entire set of functions (for example, all account management methods). For more information on defining SOAP applications on the appliance, see “Managing SOAP applications” in the Foglight Experience Monitor Installation and Administration Guide.

This category provides reports for from the perspective of a server that is servicing SOAP requests. SOAP Servers are identified by the destination IP address in SOAP message traffic. These SOAP Servers will usually have applications installed on them that provide web services to customers (for example, like IBM® WebSphere®, BEA WebLogic®).
This category provides reports for SOAP transactions. A SOAP transaction is defined as a sequence of SOAP operations that the SOAP consumer must execute in order to complete a task. Each step in the transaction generates a SOAP operation request to the web service provider. A SOAP Transaction is identified by this sequence of SOAP operations. Before the system begins analyzing transactions, the administrator must define each step of the transaction as well as assign a name that describes the purpose of the transaction.
