Support may request for gathering the DBTrace log, this is a how-to article on how to generate that log file.
1. Run the Stat INI Editor (Under Windows operating system, installation by default is located under C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Stat 6.3.0\editini.exe) and select/highlight the proper database. Next check the flag "Enable DB Trace", click on either the Save button icon or File | Save. Note: Please run editini.exe with administrative privileges in order to save configuration changes.
2. Log out of the Stat Client after the Stat INI Editor modification.
3. Log back into the Stat client, when you successfully authenticate the login, a pop-up will appear showing the "Database Trace" GUI. It will show a default location for the log, make note of the location as that will be the location where the file will be saved. If you wish to change the location, simply just enter the path (C:\TEMP is a popular option) and file name under the "Log File Name" (e.g. C:\TEMP\dbtrace.log or C:\TEMP\dbtrace.txt). Make sure it is a directory that is writable so that the log can be created and data can be updated within the log. Click OK when done.
4. Once logged into the Stat client is successful, please replicate the error again.
5. Upload the dbtrace.txt or .log (e.g. stat_dbtrace.log) that you named it to be from the path specified from step 3.
Side note:
The stat.ini usually resides in this location: C:\ProgramData\Quest\Stat\6.3\stat.ini. The Stat INI Editor will open up the stat.ini. Once you are able to generate the error and upload the dbtrace log, please feel free to disable the DB Trace logging again. Just launch Stat INI Editor with administrative privileges and then uncheck the "Enable DB Trace" box, then click on the SAVE button to disable it. This way the dbtrace log doesn't take up unnecessary disk space later.
