When migrating from On-Premise AD to Azure AD Sync, as part of an Office365 migration from local Exchange Servers, groups are sync'd to Exchange Online from the former local AD groups. As such, they are visible from the Office 365 management tools, but they don't show up on the Enterprise Manager console and do not appear to be updated.
Also, members of existing "local" groups are the former on-premise users and not the new Office 365 users; therefore, archiving for these users is no longer going on.
An email address needs to be added to the AD group, which after becoming synchronized with Office 365 will change it from a "Security Group" to a "Mail-enabled Security Group".
After this is done, it will show up as a group that can be imported using the wizard, and it will synchronize properly.
Optionally, you may want to exclude this group email address from showing up in a GAL search.
