After installing Toad and Knowledge Xpert (KXpert), when I try to launch KXpert from within Toad (Tools menu) I get an error and KXpert does not open. First a Knowledge Xpert NOT Properly Installed followed by a Object reference not set to an instance of an object error occurs.
I can launch and search for the SQL Server info from the standalone KXpert.exe. But I cannot launch from within Toad. I am working with Toad for SQL Server 4.0 and KXpert 10.
I also have Toad for Oracle and the Oracle Admin and PLSQL editions installed in the same directory and can access everything else without errors.
Another situation is when launching KXpert from Toad for SQL Server gives an error noting it is not installed correctly, then a gray screen appears, and then Toad has to be shut down.
Another similar situation is installing Toad and KXpert on Citrix, the same problem occurs. Also, sometimes Knowledge Xpert does not appear under Tools | Quest Tools.
WORKAROUND1:
Register the KXpert.exe by running the following:
C:>C:Program FilesCommon FilesQuest SharedKnowledge XpertKXpert.exe /RegServer

Verify the license.key is correct within the TOAD for SQL Server folder.
