Replication fails with a 3201 error that indicates inabiltiy to access a disk on the source virtual machine.
When the Backup Exec Agent is installed on a VM it replaces the VMware VSS. vRanger depends on the VMware VSS to have a quiesced snapshot created during a backup/replication job and VMware VSS is replaced when Backup Exec Agent is installed.
One of the two options below would need to be used to correct the problem.
1. Configure vRanger to not utilize a quiesced snapshot and your replicaiton jobs will start to work correctly once again. This will allow vRanger and Backup Exec to be used for the same VM.
2. If quiescing the VM during replication is a requirement then the Backup Exec Agent will have to be removed and VMware VSS that is part of the VMware Tools will have to be reinstalled. After this is done vRanger can once again be configured to utilize a quiesced snapshot for the replicaiton job. If a backup of the VM is required vRanger can be used for both replicating and backing up the same VM. vRanger also allows for single files and folders to be restored in addition to restoring the whole VM.
See the vRanger user guide for your version of vRanger to learn how to properly deploy vzShadow and to create the freeze.bat file.
