The 'Failed to translate owner' (or trustee) message is not unusual, and usually happens because an object has been deleted from the NDS tree that is referenced by a file. NetVault does not store the numeric id for file owners or trustees as these will differ from system to system using the same NDS tree - so NetVault tries to translate the dto the object name.
This will fail if the user has been deleted.
The standard way to fix this is to periodically run the DSREPAIR utility.
