This KB displays what the Remote Site Appliance (RSA) setup GUI looks like after launching the virtual machine for the first time in VMWare (OVF) or Hyper-V (vhdx).
Please reference support.quest.com site, then under the "Reference Guide" to obtain the K2000 Setup Guides on how to set up VMWare (OVF) or Hyper-V (Vhdx). Also reference K2000: Installation Instructions for the Remote Site Appliance (111359).
The RSA Migration Assistant Tool guide can be viewed here.
Note: Please follow the Reference Guide (KACE Systems Deployment Appliance - Technical Documentation) to set up the virtual appliance platforms and Vhdx should be Imported for Hyper-V.
The OVF or Vhdx file can be used to set up the main K2000 appliance or a K2000 Remote Site Appliance. The "Virtual appliance configuration" section will ask if this set up will be used for one or the other. For this KB article, we have determined this to be a Remote Site Appliance.
Once the NEXT button is pressed the following page will display the "License key, password, and other information" section. It is critical to have possession of the K2000 license key in order to proceed further. Please enter the password for admin in order to be able to log into the RSA webui as the "admin" username account. Complete the rest of the data by filling in the company name, administrator email and selecting the time zone of the RSA location. If for any reason, this is not supposed to a Remote Site Appliance, it is possible to click on the "Change virtual appliance mode" link on the bottom of the page to go back.
When ready, click on the "Save Settings and continue" button. The next page will display the "Data storage" section. Review the information listed, if necessary, click on the "Change virtual appliance mode" link to go back to the beginning to start over. This section also allows you to configure the virtual appliance to use an offboard-storage device if needed. For more information about offboard-storage options for a virtual K2000, please review KB113873 and the latest K2000 Administration Guide.
If it is necessary to configure an offboard-storage device, please follow the instructions as described on the page and then power off the appliance. If the data is to be stored on-board the Remote Site Appliance, then please click on the "Configure, then reboot appliance" when ready. Once the Remote Site Appliance has completed the reboot process, the admin account can be used to log into the webui.
On the virtual console, the reboot process should start to kick off.
