How does one update the username and password of the shared ChangeAuditor datasource for pre-existing published SRS reports?
Some customers may wish to update the datasource of previously published SRS reports if a password has changed or if the account that was previously used to access the datasource has been disabled or deleted.
- Using, SQL Reporting Services directly, navigate to (by default -- use the correct URL to match your own environment here): http://<SQL_SRS_Server>/Reports
- From root folder "Home", the navigate to the correct folder where the reports are already published, by default, this is under "Home > Quest Software > ChangeAuditor"
- Click "Show Details" on the upper-right hand corner (this will show hidden files and folder, etc.)
- For each folder of published reports, there should be a hidden folder called "Data Sources", navigate to this folder
- Once inside the "Data Sources" folder, there should be a matching datasource, by default, this would look like "ChangeAuditor_DEFAULT", click on this datasource.
- Once inside the correct datasource, under the "Properties > General" tab, modify the "Credentials stored securely in the report server" to the updated username / password and be sure to set the option to "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source" (unless of course you will be using SQL Server credentials rather than Windows credentials).
- Click "Apply" to save these changes to the datasource.
