When using the database migration wizard, the migration will halt with the following error: "Event import failed: An error occurred while writing event data: 1) Connection failure Import stopped at the current point."
The application event log may contain event ID 17052 I/O error (bad page ID) detected during read offset.
These errors will occur when there is damage to the disk subsystem or the ChangeAuditor database.
There are 4 possible resolutions to this problem:
RESOLUTION 1:
Microsoft recommends performing a DBCC CHECKDB command on the database to attempt to repair the database.
This procedure is explained in the following article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/828339
If errors are found and repaired, attempt the migration again.
RESOLUTION 2:
Detach the ChangeAuditor database and move the MDF and LDF database files to another drive or server. Reattach the database and attempt the migration.
RESOLUTION 3:
Restore a previous version of the database before the corruption occurred and attempt the migration.
RESOLUTION 4:
Check the system for failed hardware, usually a hard drive or disk controller. Replace the failed hardware and attempt the migration.
