Issue
When attempting to migrate a server-based Notes archive databases using Notes Migrator, the Migration control center will fail to migrate the archive database.
I followed the steps from this KB article, but I might be missing something: CMT for Exchange How to import via Excel to Migrate Domino Server based Archives
Cause
When importing users via a MS Excel file, the 'mailfile' field is missing. By default users are imported via the Domino address book (NAB).
If a customer uses an Excel file, and is 'missing' a field in the import, the MCC will by default pull from the corporate directory what is listed for that user and not updated the properties necessary for the back-end database to read.
"Error: Unable to get database information.(540) This function is inappropriate for file system directories' in the log file.
Scenario
An Excel file is created to archive old legacy mail files. The Excel file is created with the following columns header names:
InternetAddress | Migration Group | MailFileName | MailServer
The 'MailFile' column was not included.
When the spreadsheet file is used to import the user's archives, it matched the same user to an entry in the current NAB and input a field of the users 'mailfile' name.
This was not successfully written to the properties in the user migration document it created.
When attempting to migrate, the migration document attempted to input entries in the back-end database.
It failed to successfully add the necessary entries. The Excel columns work in conjunction with the backend Access db to create a migration table, if one field is missing the migration will fail and the log will display with the "Error: Unable to get database information.(540) This function is inappropriate for file system directories' in the log file."
Solution
Prepare the Excel file with the following columns, populated with the correct source archive mail file details:
InternetAddress | MigrationGroup | MailFile | MailFileName | MailServer
If you are not performing an archive migration, then you can just include the InternetAddress column. The Import process will use this field as a key, and search the Domino corporate NAB for the list of users, and import all of their source Domino user information.
