How to reinstall if previous installation or upgrade failed and Asset Manager console will not open.
After upgrading to Asset Manager 9.x, or if there was a failed installation of Asset Manager, attempting to open up the console will result in various IIS errors and console will not open.
Incorrect installation or corruption.
Make sure to backup and identify location of Asset Manager database in your environment.
Remove Asset Manager 8 or Asset Manager 9 version that may currently be installed on server and restart the server.
Download and extract installation files. Run the SETUP.BAT file (NOT THE SETUP.EXE). If on a Windows 2008 or 2008 R2 server, right click and choose “Run as Administrator” (hold the shift key if needed to see Run as).
NOTE: If using RDP to access the server and perform the installation, make sure to use the /console switch. On computer that you are using RDP from, go to Start | Run and type: mstsc.exe /console (can also do mstsc.exe /admin if console switch doesn’t work).
Choose default installation steps, but when prompted for “Express Install” or “Advanced Install”, choose “Advanced install”.
The Asset Manager configuration page should come up. Go to the “Database” tab, browse out to connect, and put credentials for SQL instance and database. Click OK.
The Asset Manager console should now open.
