ArchiMate Enabled Encyclopedia Upgrade - Scenario 3 (4284187)

Upgraded SA, Upgraded ArchiMate (v2.2 – v3.x)

System Architect version has been upgraded and the version of the ArchiMate plug-in has been upgraded

IMPORTANT: If upgrading to Corso ArchiMate Plug-in v3.x you will need to be using Rational System Architect v11.4.2.5 or later

• Open the encyclopedia

• Select Yes to upgrade

Select Yes to upgrade

• Click No to the defaults

• Re-select any property sets that were applied to the encyclopedia

If roadmapping has been enabled on the encyclopedia, you will see this issue –

System Architect has overwritten one of the needed ArchiMate plug-in files during the upgrade of the encyclopedia

We need to remove the ArchiMate association before we can upgrade

• Click Ok and the open encyclopedia dialog will open, cancel out of this

• Go to Tools > Encyclopedia File Manager

• Select the encyclopedia you are upgrading

• Find the PROPERTY SET\SOLNPROPS.CFG entry and delete it

• Exit out of the dialog and re-open the encyclopedia

This should successfully allow us to open the encyclopedia and then apply the new ArchiMate upgrade

As we have installed a new ArchiMate version, we will need to re-configure the metamodel of the encyclopedia for the new ArchiMate configuration files to be applied

• Go to Tools > ArchiMate > Configure Encyclopedia for ArchiMate

• Select Yes
• Select Yes

The encyclopedia will re-open

• Select Yes, this will import the definitions needed for the Method Wizard 

– This can take a few minutes (this will depend on the size of the encyclopedia)

If you are using a workspaced encyclopedia, then you will be presented with an import option (as above)

• Choose the option that suits your usage

Note: If you select No, then the import task needs to be performed the first time each of the other non-baselined workspace is opened after upgrade

• If the encyclopedia has Roadmapping enabled, you will also be asked to import the Roadmapping definitions, select Yes

If you are using a workspaced encyclopedia, then you will be presented with an import option (as above)

• Choose the option that suits your usage

Note: If you select No, then the import task needs to be performed the first time each of the other non-baselined workspace is opened after upgrade
