Description
The Windows Installer initiated a system restart to complete the configuration of 'Quest Enterprise Reporter Node'. -
Cause
This behavior can occur during the upgrade process, if the Clusters/Nodes are not disabled first. Dll's in memory may be locked, so the installer cannot update them. The Widows installer will trigger a machine reboot so that the .dlls are unloaded and the upgrade can complete. As when the node upgrade is triggered from the Configuration Manager it is a silent, unattended install. No popups would appear on the node host to prompt users about the reboot. This is normal in silent installations / upgrades. -
Resolution
To upgrade Enterprise Reporter, you should:
- Disable clusters to stop discoveries from being sent to the nodes. (The associated nodes will also be disabled).
- Cancel any jobs running on the nodes to stop data from writing to the Enterprise Reporter database.
- Cancel any report jobs running or scheduled to prevent Report Manager from accessing the database.
- Create a backup of the database.
- Note the port number being used by the Enterprise Reporter server.
- Upgrade the Enterprise Reporter components.
- Upgrade the nodes.
- If there are any manually configured nodes, upgrade them manually.
- Enable any disabled clusters to resume discoveries.
