Running Spotlight on Oracle in a Firewall environment requires certain ports to be opened between the Spotlight on Oracle server and the monitored Oracle instances and their environment.
Spotlight on Oracle requires port 1521/TCP which is the sql*net port and used by SQL Plus. An Oracle connection is mandatory in Spotlight on Oracle, therefore this port must be opened in a firewall environment.
If Spotlight on Oracle will be monitoring the OS (optional) for the Oracle server in a Windows environment, create a WMI connection and a perfmon connection (See WMI Connectivity section in Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise v2.x.x Security and Firewall Considerations Guide document). If the Oracle server is in a UNIX operating system, a REXEC connection and/or SSH connection can be used. SSH uses port 22 by default while for REXEC connection, 512 is the default port. These ports should be left opened.
