During the installation of LiteSpeed, the user must select a "Complete" or "Custom" installation. What is the difference between "Complete" or "Custom" or Engine and Client tools installation?
"Complete" installation includes both Engine and Client Tools. "Custom" installation is only the Client Tools.
The LiteSpeed engine provides all the functionality of LiteSpeed and must be installed on the server where the databases reside that will be backed up.
The Client Tools include the Management Console and Enterprise Console.
If using solely scripts via Query Analyzer or command line, the client tools are not required.
For additional information on installing LiteSpeed, see the Installation Guide.
An explanation ia also available in the LiteSpeed Help file.
