Restore of multiple vmdk VM fails with “An item with the same key has already been added”.
That affects German/Swiss customers running 4.2.3-15522 -4.5.0-15937 and GermanOS/Language settings.
Disks are not duplicates. Language settings will impact building of the VmConfig.metadata post backup.
In English the disk identifiers look like:
SCSI (0:0) Hard Disk 1
SCSI (0:1) Hard Disk 2
For some German installs, the identifiers look like:
SCSI (0:0) Festplatte 1
SCSI (0:1) Festplatte 2
Ranger is looking for ‘Hard Disk’ keyword.
Workaround for German customers with this issue:
1.Remove the restore job
2.Edit the backup job's ...VmConfig.metadata file
2a.Change all strings "Festplatte" to "Hard Disk"
2b.Save file
3.Re-Add the restore job
In some cases pre-seeding the VM prior to restore with the same size vm will allow for overwrite.
This issue was resolved in vRanger 4.5.2.x.
