Users may notice extended logon times and the trace file shows the delay occurs while creating the slADCurrentUser object:
15:01:37 Detecting AD OU membership (2000+ method)
15:01:37 Created slADCurrentUser object.
15:06:36 Building AD OU array
The slADCurrentUser object is a feature that is used to enumerate specific information from Active Directory. This information is located in the Active Directory category of the dynamic variable list (the dynamic variable list can be viewed in the manager by pressing the F2 key while the cursor is located in any text box). These variables can also be located in sltrace.htm (located in user’s temp\desktop authority\) under the Active Directory section.
There are certain networks that may have permissions issues or other problems enumerating information from Active Directory. This can lead to delays at this point in the trace file or possibly cause the enumeration to fail all together. For this reason Desktop Authority is capable of bypassing the enumeration of these variables. This can be done by modifying the slstart.ini file. The slstart.ini file can be found in the slscripts$ share of the Desktop Authority server (C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest\Desktop Authority\Desktop Authority Manager\Scripts by default).
Open this file and add the following line:
DisableEngineADEnumeration=1
Add this just after the first line that reads:
[Run Settings]
Then save and replicate changes from within the manager, this will disable the Active Directory enumeration for each subsequent logon.
