Despite having farm administrator and site collection administrator privileges on both source and target SharePoint farms, a permission-related error message appears in the Content Matrix Console when mapping managed metadata (Taxonomy) Term stores:
It references taxonomy, even though taxonomy may not even be part of the migration. This usually terminates the migration job.
In order to preserve the integrity of certain site/list columns in the target farm, such as the "Enterprise Keywords" column, Content Matrix needs to retrieve the Term Groups from the Managed Metadata Term Store. The issue may arise if the account connecting to the source/target SharePoint farm does not have permission to the Term Store.
1) Apply following permissions to the source and target Managed Metadata Service Application (see here for screenshots):
- "Full Control" permission for Managed Metadata service application
- "Full Access to Term Store" permission for Managed Metadata service application.
-Term Store Administrator
2) Disable Anonymous authentication in IIS for SharePoint 2010 Web applications as shown below. This step can be performed on every server in the farm and doesn't require IIS restarting. Optionally, you can make the change on one SharePoint 2010 server and configure host file on the migration box to direct Content Matrix requests to that specific server.
Then, relaunch Content Matrix, reconfigure the migration job - Map term stores option should now function.
