Is WINS required for Collaboration Services to work properly

A site is trying to deploy quest Collaboration Services without WINS in the environment. They only use DNS for name resolution. Will Collaboration Services function without WINS?

Using WINS for NetBIOS Name resolution is not required by Collaboration Services for proper functionality of the product.  However the Server running Collaboration Services should be able to resolve IP addresses by only specifying the hostname of a server rather than the entire FQDN.  Typically this is done by ensuring the server has all required DNS domains specified in its DNS domain search suffix list.
