Failed to update object <ObjectName> in collection <CollectionName>. Code : 0x8004040a,Description : 0000202B: RefErr: DSID-03153440, data 0, 1 access points ref 1: <FQDNofDomainController> Referral occurred.[EIP: 0x0442EF9F,0x04444AC3][EIP: 0x04352E26,0x04357395][EIP: 0x0123B579,0x05398096][EIP: 0x0539809F,0x054B6785]
Cause

The Domain Controller in the error returned a referral when querying for the user object
Resolution
Ensure the Collaboration Services service account had the necessary permissions to read the OU where the object is hosted.

Confirm the Domain Controller listed in the error is not a Read-only Domain Controller (RODC) and that it is reachable and there are no replication issues. To change the Domain Controller used by QCS to a specific DC:
1. Open the QCS console
2. Right click the top Collaboration Services node and select Properties
3. Select General | AD Options
4. Check Use preferred domain controller
5. Click Load
6. Select A DC from the list
