How to move Collaboration Services to new hardware \ server. -
Resolution
1. On the old server, stop all Three Collaboration Services starting with the Watch Dog service and set them to Disabled.2. Go into the Collaboration Services directory "\Program Files(x86)\Quest Software\Collaboration Services",3. Copy the "Storage" folder and PolicyKey.apk file in the directory from the old to new serverNote: If installing a Branch, you will require the HQ's Encryption key (.akf) during installation. If installing an HQ, the Branch Encryption Keys (.akf) can be re-applied after the install is completed.
Note: On the new server ensure all AntiVirus Exclusions mimic the old server to ensure no database locks occur during QCS operation.
4. Install Collaboration Services on the new server.
5. Stop the 3 Collaboration services on the new server6. Create a Copy of the Storage directory and Policykey.apk file on the new server.7. Copy & Replace the "Storage" and PolicyKey.apk file you copied from the Old server to the new server from Step 2 to overwrite the existing files within the Collaboration Services directory.Note: Ensure Outlook MAPI 32bit (Not MAPICDO Messaging API and Collaborative Objects 1.2.1) is installed and you can open the Service Mailbox with Outlook while logged in as the service account. Any issues with the MAPI connection to the mailbox contact Quest Support. You would want to look at the MAPIServ.log and look for a line that says "Remain" which will give you a message count.8. Start the Services on the new Collaboration Services server.9. On the old server backup the "Storage" folder and PolicyKey.apk , then uninstall Collaboration Services.Note: If 256 bit encryption is enabled, make sure that you uncheck 256bit encryption in the Collaboration Services console before copying the Storage directory to the new server. **On the new server please ensure after the install that 256bit is not selected. Once you verify everything is working, you can safely select 256bit encryption if you prefer.
Note: If the installation path has changed from what it was on the old server then you will need to manually update the "ACSConfig.xml" file on the new server before starting the services.On the new server where you copied the storage folder make a backup copy of the "ACSConfig.xml" file.Open the "ACSConfig.xml" file with notepad.Click Edit | ReplaceIn the Find what: box enter your old install path "C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Collaboration Services"In the Replace With box enter your new install path "C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\Collaboration Services"Click Replace All
