Reverting a VM on VMware Workstation Shared hypervisor using the VMWare Server hypervisor type may fail with the message: “Failed to get AuthManager object” (4259319)

While this is technically feasible to connect to VMWare Workstation Shared hypervisor with the VMWare Server hypervisor type, VMWare has not fully implemented all VSphere functionality required for ChangeBASE to launch processes within the guest VM remotely. In this case, one will get the “Failed to get AuthManager object” error in the ChangeBASE conversion log.

One should instead use the VMWare Workstation Shared Hypervisor type and also make sure to install Version 1.13 of the VIX library, as later version do not support VMWare Workstation Shared VMs in this way.

Please follow the steps below to workaround the issue:

1.       Stop the ChangeBASE service on server
2.       Download and install an earlier version of the VIX library (for example V1.13 which has also been successfully tested in the ChangeBASE lab)
3.       Restart the ChangeBASE service, or preferably restart the machine running ChangeBASE if possible to ensure a cleaner initialisation of the libraries
