When Change Auditor is auditing a SQL server, events are not being generated with a correctly configured and assigned template.
1. The SQL server is SQL 2000, which is not supported.
2. The SQL server is SQL 2008 update 5 or later (included SQL 2008R2) and requires the T1906 trace flag to allow for custom trace.
The following error may also appear in the SQL error log if the T1906 trace flag is missing or input incorrectly:
Cannot find the requested trace template: id = 6.
Following an update contained in SQL Server 2008 Update 5 or later, Change Auditor agents will no longer capture SQL audit events unless the following action is taken on the SQL Server:
On each SQL Server Instance to be audited, please do the following:
If the start-up parameter is in place and there is uncertainty if a restart was performed, confirm if SQL Trace flag 1906 is currently active. To determine this:
If the results show as the following, then it is enabled:
