6.x agent install fails with Error 1935. ..HRESULT: 0x800736FD and rolls back -
Description
Cannot deploy agents to 2 domain controllers. Running the agent .msi manually on the DC results in the install almost completing then it stops, rolls back and pops up error message ' Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component {844EFBA7-1C24-93B2-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}. HRESULT: 0x800736FD and rolls back the install.
CaMsiInstall log has the following entryMSI (s) (B0:7C) [19:31:12:688]: Assembly Error (sxs): Please look into Component Based Servicing Log located at -246946696ndir\logs\cbs\cbs.log to get more diagnostic information.Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component {844EFBA7-1C24-93B2-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}. HRESULT: 0x800736FD. assembly interface: IAssemblyCacheItem, function: Commit, assembly name:Checking the corresponding Component Based Servicing Log the following entry is found:Info CBS Failed to load the COMPONENTS hive from 'C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS' into registry key 'HKLM\COMPONENTS'. Cause
This error is caused by the Registry Size of the KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control
being limited and the value being set too small. -
Resolution
Check the Registry key HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control for the DWORD RegSizeLimit value. If present either:
1. Delete the registry value if not present for a valid reason
or
2. Increase the RegSizeLimit value as per
