Summary of errors in Notes Migrator decryption report
When users click on the action button in the ‘decrypt encrypted items’ message template, messages in the users mail file that are flagged as encrypted are decrypted in place to allow the migration engine to process them into Exchange.
Due to a bug in the ‘automatically encrypt sent messages’ in the Notes 7.x client, sent items may not contain the encrypted flag in the users mail file. For this reason, the decryption agent will decrypt any message contain a $Seal or $SealData field.
During the decryption process, messages are opened using the users encryption key, the body is copied as rich text, and attachments are extracted. The message body is then resaved and attachments are resaved in the mail document in an unencrypted state.
Once decryption has been completed, a report is placed in the users inbox in Notes, which provides a summary of the decryption process and any errors that may have occurred.
A typical report contains a count of the decrypted items, and a list of any items that could not be decrypted. A document that can not be decrypted falls in to one of two basic categories:
1) the user running the action does not have the correct decryption key for the message.
This can occur if the user is not the original recipient (for example, from forwarding an encrypted document to another notes user), or if the cryptographic key is unavailable for decryption (for example, if a user’s Notes ID was recreated in the Domino Name and Address book, which would generate a new cryptographic key. The log will contain the subject, date, and noteID if this situation is encountered.

2) The decryption process is unable to decrypt the document due to a structural error in the document.
This may occur for messages sent from an external domain that contains an invalid message body, such that the richTextNavigator used by the decryption agent cannot be created.
