You have to enable the "enable refresh status" agent otherwise the status will not update automatically otherwise you would have to do it manually. But here is the catch. You cannot enable that agent on the domino server because that agent needs access to the SQL back end and the only machine that has the ability to do that is the controller.
1. You need to create a local replica of the Notes Migrator database. This is only for getting the enable refresh status agent to run correctly. And set up a scheduled replication so your migration in your server copy are coming down to the local rep of the database
2. In that local copy of the database you would enable the enable refresh status agent and make sure the notes client on the controller is running local agent manager. That is found under file/preferences/basic note configuration and "Enable Local Scheduled Agents" needs to be checked.
3. This will update the status of the users in the local copy because again the agent has to have access to the sql database on the controller.
4. Then the updated local status will be replicated to the server copy so when the email agent runs it has the updated status.
