Which Freebusy Logs are Needed?
Lotus Notes > Exchange
When talking about a problem where Lotus Notes is sending requests for Exchange users Freebusy, Notes is the client and the log we want is the btclient.log.
Exchange > Lotus Notes
When Domino is answering Outlook requests about Notes users, Domino is the Freebusy server and then what we want is in the btserver.log.
The two components of the Freebusy request the GetAvailabiltiyRequestType and the GetAvailabilityResponse
If there is an issue communicating with the IIS server Dom Coex is attempting to connect with the BTClient logs will reflect the following:
<ResponseCode>Error
Followed by type of error this error will indicate where and what the issue is i.e.
<ResponseCode>ErrorTimeoutExpired</ResponseCode>
<ResponseCode>ErrorAutoDiscoverFailed</ResponseCode>
<ResponseCode>ErrorNoFreeBusyAccess</ResponseCode>
<ResponseCode>ErrorProxyRequestProcessingFailed</ResponseCode>
The above errors usually indicate an issue with the IIS box, perhaps resources or load balancer is causing the issue or IIS box is sluggish
On the Domino Coex server add debug entries to the notes.ini:
The path may not conform to the notes.ini file setting
**C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Domino9\logs
;****** Start BTFreeBusy logging / debug Section ******
BTCOEX_LOGFILE=\IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT\OUTPUT.LOG (should be relative to the <Domino server>\Domino Data Directory)
BTCOEX_LOGDATA=15 - logs request and response data to the files, not the console
BTCOEX_SERVER_LOG=6 - log status of OL->Domino responses to btserver.log
BTCOEX_CLIENT_LOG=6 - log status of Notes->Exchange requests to btclient.log
BTCOEX_LOG=8 - log all BT code to output.log
Set config debug_sched_all=0 or 1 (Optional)
BTLOGDIRECTORY=C:\BTCAL\LOG
BTWORKDIRECTORY=C:\BTCAL
Enable logging on the Windows (IIS) Coexistence servers by performing below tasks:
The 3 services on the Windows Coexistence server:
Autodiscover(BTAD) – Handles the initial request from Outlook and passes it to the BTRouter
BTAvailability(BTAS) – Services the free/busy requests from Domino to Exchange
BTRouter(BTAR) – Services the freebusy requests from the Windows Coexistence server to Domino
Enabling logging from the IIS Coexistence server. This will record the Exchange server that connects to IIS and will also indicate any errors to IIS from Exchange/O365:
Collect configuration information:
Navigate to Autodiscover Web Service
Open Connection Strings
Check the Domain values.
Name: domino.contoso.com
Custom: https://autodiscover.domino./btrouter/exchange.asmx
Check the EAD values.
Name: EAD
Custom: https://autodiscover.domino./autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
Launch the Web Browser on the Windows Coex Server
Open the Autodiscover Service page.
