Microsoft has announced that by January 7, 2026, Microsoft Entra will transition from DigiCert Global Root G1 to DigiCert Global Root G2 certificates.
Customers are concerned whether this change requires configuration updates or corrective action within Quest Archive Manager to prevent authentication or service disruptions when interacting with Entra services.
The DigiCert Global Root G1 to G2 transition is a Microsoft Entra and operating system–level certificate trust change.
Quest Archive Manager:
Does not perform certificate pinning to DigiCert root certificates
Relies on the Windows certificate trust store for secure communications
Any potential impact from this change would occur only if the underlying operating system does not trust the DigiCert Global Root G2 certificate.
No Archive Manager–specific configuration changes are required.
To ensure uninterrupted service:
Verify that Archive Manager servers are running a supported Windows operating system
Ensure Windows Updates are current so the DigiCert Global Root G2 certificate is present in the trusted root certificate store
Ensure client browsers used to access Archive Manager are also up to date
Once the operating system trusts DigiCert Global Root G2, Archive Manager will continue to function normally.
