When attempting to send or forward messages to email address outside the organization it is unsuccessful and you may encounter an error similar to '550 5.7.1 Unable to relay'.
The MailServer (SMTP server) specifed in the Configuration Editor does not allow relaying to outside the organization because anonymous is being used. Exchange 2007 and 2010 Receive Connectors require authentication in order to relay outside.
There is no configuration on Archive Manager for this error. The SMTP server has been configured to not allow relaying for anonymous connections. For Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010 this would involve reviewing the configuration of the server hosting the Hub Transport role.
Once anonymous access has been removed the Archive Manager Configuration Editor would need to be updated with 'SMTP Authentication User' and 'SMTP Authentication Password' values.
