Error 1061: The service cannot accept control messages at this time -
Description
When stopping the AppAssure core service the following error displays: Error 1061: The service cannot accept control messages at this time." The staus of the AppAssure core service does not change.

Cause
This issue is caused by the Application Information service not responding to requests to elevate applications to Administrator, causing the error message.Log in as the local administrator account.Open Services.msc, and keep it minimized (the following steps will prevent you from running services.msc to start the service after it has been killed so services.msc will need to be open beforehand!)Run Process Explorer as AdministratorKill the svchost.exe netsvcs process.Then start the Application Information service from Services.Check all automatic services as a few may have stopped and start them again.This should resolve the issue.This is particularly helpful on critical production servers which can't be rebooted as that could cause disruption to service, but can also be used on desktops if you don't wish to reboot. -
Resolution
If you are able to, rebooting the core server and then performing a core repair corrects this issue. Repairing the core also removes all the patches installed on the core. If the core needs to be reparied and you have patches installed you will also need to reinstall your patches after the repair.
Please follow these steps to resolve this issue:
1. Disable the core service.
2. Reboot of the core server (since the core service will not be terminated in either services/task manager).
3. When core server is restarted, perform a core repair.
a. Go to Control Panel
b. Double click on Programs & Features
c. Click on Appassure Core
d. Click on Change
e. The AppAssure installer will start and make sure the circle next to the repair is selected.
f. Run through the Core repair wizard.
g. As the repair runs the Core Service will be restarted.
4. After the repair is complete, you can now go to services and check the core service is running.
