This article describes how to disable rollup by configuring settings for the custom retention policy in the Core.
When protecting your data using AppAssure 5, backup snapshots are taken frequently, and are saved to the repository specified by the Core. To conserve space over time, this data can be rolled up to an incrementally less granular series of recovery points.
The benefit of rollup is reduction of space taken by each snapshot. This is a tradeoff between being able to restore to the original level of granularity versus the amount of storage space required to maintain the original individual backups. The time and system resources consumed performing rollups is also a factor.
Rollup occurs as an internal nightly maintenance procedure, during which the defined retention policy is enforced by collapsing and eliminating dated recovery points.
This article describes how to disable rollup using the custom retention policy settings.
Disabling Rollup Using Custom Retention Policy Settings
If rollup is occurring based on either default Core settings or a custom retention policy, or if you are troubleshooting rollup issues such as failed snapshots, you can disable rollups by using custom retention policies.
