Create a One-Way Trust Between Domains on the Same Subnet (4035359)

This article describes how to create a one-way trust on the same subnet.

A one-way trust on the same subnet allows AppAssure 5 Cores and AppAssure 5 Agents to communicate across domains.

To create Incoming Trust, please complete the following steps:

1. Log on to the Domain Controller/ DNS of the Icorpdata Active Directory Domain.
2. Open Active Directory Domains and Trusts MMC on the Domain Controller of the domain Icorpdata.
3. In the console tree, right-click the domain node for the domain to establish a trust, and then click Properties.
4. On the Trusts tab, click New Trust, and then click Next.
5. On the Trust Name page, type the DNS name hostlabs, and then click Next.
6. On the Direction of Trust page, Select one-way, incoming external trust, and click Next.
7. On the Sides of Trust Page, select This Domain only. Click Next.
8. Enter and verify Password “Password123” (without the quotes). Click Next.
9. Click Next.
10. Click Next.
11. Select No, do not confirm the incoming trust. Click Next.
12. Click Finish.

To create Outgoing Trust, please complete the following steps:

1. Logon to the Domain Controller/ DNS of the Active Directory Domain.
2. Open Active Directory Domains and Trusts MMC on the Domain Controller of the domain hostlabs.
3. In the console tree, right-click the domain node for the domain to establish a trust with, and then click Properties.
4. On the Trusts tab, click New Trust, and then click Next.
5. On the Trust Name page, type the DNS name, and then click Next.
6. On the Direction of Trust page, Select one-way, outgoing external trust, and click Next.
7. On the Sides of Trust Page, select This Domain only. Click Next.
8. Enter and verify Password “Password123” (without the quotes). Click Next.
9. Click Next.
10. Click Next.
11. Select No, do not confirm the outgoing trust. Click Next.
12. Click Finish.

Add DomainName\Domain Admins to the Administrators Group in the Domain Controller and in the local administrators groups on the servers that you are protecting.

To test Trusts, please complete the following steps:

1. Ping the NETBIOS Name of the trusted domain (both ways).
2. Ping the FQDN of the trusted domain (both ways).
3. Ping hosts on each side (trusted domains).
