Cannot upgrade Agent software from ver 5.3.x on a machine
Cannot upgrade Agent software from version 5.3.x on a machine by deploying from the Core or manually on the Agent machine itself.
Windows Events Logs show:
Event ID: 11604
Product: AppRecovery Agent
-- Error 1604. Service couldn't be stopped and upgrade is being performed, to prevent data loss the upgrade should be cancelled
Some machines has issue with gibraltar logging during software installation.
Please perform the following workaround: 1. Run installation of an Agent as an administrator on the Agent. 2. Click "Cancel" button after complete "copying files" stage (but do not cancel the installation keep dialog pop-up window pending). 3. From cmd prompt, run command:
4. Browse to C:\Program Files\AppRecovery\Agent\ and find file "Logging.dll.nlog.config". Copy this file and save it to another directory. 5. Open file "Logging.dll.nlog.config" (at C:\Program Files\AppRecovery\Agent\) in notepad. 6. Delete any occurrences of the word "gibraltar" from "Logging.dll.nlog.config" file and also delete the line <target name="gibraltar" xsi:type="Gibraltar" />. 6. Click 'No' at dialog window and resume the installation of Agent software. 7. After successful installation, do NOT reboot the machine. 8. Copy back the file you had saved away to revert the changes made on "Logging.dll.nlog.config". 9. Reboot the Agent machine. 10. Test for issue and if it is still persisting, contact Support.
