Exadata Cell Disks

This page shows IO requests and latency to the disks on the Exadata Storage Servers (cells): Flash Disks and Hard Disks.

The data is sourced from CellCLI where the objectType is CELLDISK.

Note: Spotlight on Oracle RAC may include monitoring of Exadata systems depending on the license purchased.

To open the Cell Disks page

  1. Select the Spotlight on Oracle RAC connection in the Spotlight Browser.
  2. Click Exadata | Cell Disks.

Will the charts / grid on this drilldown page be for all cells, or filtered on one cell? Select as you require.

Charts on the Cell Disks page

Notes:

  • These charts only show the top 10 items.
  • Every chart has a legend (list of symbols) to its right that describes the various series (line graphs) on the chart.
  • Click an item in the legend to highlight its series (line) in the chart. Click a second time to return the series to its normal appearance.
  • Move the mouse pointer over an item in the legend to view the current value for that series within the chart.
Chart Description
Total IO by Cell Disk (Top 20)

Total I/O requests (read and write for large and small blocks) per Cell Disk.

The cell disks with the most active IO (Top 20) are listed.

Average Latency by Disk (Top 20)

The average time delay experienced by reading single blocks per request from a cell disk.

The cell disks with the highest average latency (Top 20) are listed.

IO by Cell Disk Grid

Column Description
Cell Host The name of the Exadata Storage Server (Cell) host
Cell Disk

The Exadata Storage Server (Cell) disk.

  • Identifiers beginning with CD are for Hard Disks.
  • Identifiers beginning with FD are for Flash Disks.
Latency(ms/request) The time delay experienced by the disk per I/O request for a single block read.
Total Reads/Sec The rate of I/O read requests (number per second) to the disk.
Total Writes/Sec The rate of I/O write requests (number per second) to the disk.
Cumulative Read Latency (seconds) The cumulative time spent reading from the disk (single block reads).
Cumulative Write Latency (seconds) The cumulative time spent writing to the disk.
Mbytes Read/Sec The rate of I/O read requests (megabytes per second) to the disk.
Mbytes Written/Sec The rate of I/O write requests (megabytes per second) to the disk.
Total Read Mbytes The total number of megabytes read from the disk.
Total Write Mbytes The total number of megabytes written to the disk.
Total Read Requests The total number of read requests to the disk.
